I know it’s a bit late (computer issues) but I hope that you had a wonderful, delicious and jolly good Christmas!

What a year for Happy Camper — I just want to say a big “thank you” to all of my wonderful readers. This blog would be nothing without you! I have lots and lots of great new things coming up in the new year… so stay tuned and see you next week in 2011.

With only two more days, I just wanted to post some Christmas inspiration to get you in the holiday spirit (if you’re not already…)!

Type tray table

21Dec

{ found here }

Wow — I may have to make one of these myself with an old tray I’ve got laying around. I could even put some orphan type in there too.

I’m putting it on my list of things to make. It’s getting long.

Last minute details

20Dec

Last week before Christmas! And there’s lots to do. As I was rummaging around my apartment this weekend searching for boxes to put my gifts in, I should have made these: fabric origami boxes. They would have been perfect! Plus, they’re guaranteed to be re-used again :) Here are the instructions to make one yourself.

Happy Friday and a happy weekend to you all – last week before Christmas  - anyone else have lots to do like me?

If you have some time, check out these fun links during the weekend:

1. Need a last-minute present for your friend’s/sister’s/etc baby? I love this adorable lamb-eared organic knit hat. I kinda want one for myself!

2. Check out this funny video of surfer babes from the ’40′s.

3. If you still need to make some Christmas cookies, how about these gingerbread brownies instead? mm…

Letterpress in the age of YouTube

16Dec

Pretty cool article in The Chronicle the other day, titled “A Letterpress Shop Survives, Printing Poems in the Era of YouTube“. At Naropa University, Naropa’s Harry Smith Print Shop is keeping letterpress printing alive and well in the age of YouTube. Mr. Schelling of the print shop has a main project of printing poems, mainly poems written by poets from the school and creating a collection.  My favorite quote from Mr. Schelling in the article which rings true, “Letterpress is a slow, painstaking craft.”

Holiday wrap

15Dec

With Christmas just over a week away, here are some last minute ideas for packaging up your gifts — because packaging it up beautifully is half the gift (And, if you need proof, just play a “white elephant gift swap”…everyone goes for the pretty packaging)!

Like this kraft and candy stripe bag to hold little goodies or gift cards from the shop of Zoe Tropa.

Try using a garland as ribbon like this felt ball garland from Made Mary.

A 5-pointed paper snowflake dresses up any gift. Instructions found here.

Using pieces of bunched fabric to create flowers and ribbon. I love the neutral colors! Instructions found here.

And…when in doubt or want to save some dough, use nature, like this spring of evergreen and pine cones, to decorate!

Hope this helps for all your wrapping needs — Send a photo of your completed pretty packages!
