My eyes seem to draw to DIYs lately, maybe because I’m dreaming of the day where I actually have the time to create. I think you’ll like this one a lot.
This DIY drawstring bag with image transfer is such a simple but special way to package upcoming gifts for the holidays:
First, how to make the drawstring bag. You can use any scrap piece of fabric, old clothes, etc:
You can find the step-by-step instructions here.
And How About Orange Blog took the drawstring bag instructions and took it a step further by adding an image transfer:

You’ll need, 1. laser-printed image 2. Acrylic Gel medium. It looks super easy and you can find the complete instructions here.

I definitely want to try this sometime. I love how How About Orange used bakers twine for the string too!

I’m not too much of a girly-girl but this lace tape from Cox & Cox, a British company { found via sikkin }, is really sweet looking, especially when wrapped up in the kraft paper.
Finding the Cox & Cox online store was a great find; they have some beautiful things — lots of holiday goodies too. Here are some other gift wrapping pieces I found at the store that caught my eye:
Card tags and woven tape

Noel Gift Ribbon
Holiday tissue paper
Wooden Christmas Stamps

Want a package from Hong Kong? Das has created a Chinese ancient village postcard set that’s wrapped up beautifully to send:

I love love love the packaging. It’d make a sweet and unique gift too.

I completely agree with re-nest on their feature of the many different and reusable uses for chalkboard paint, including the holidays!

Heart of Light‘s gift tags found on etsy look so pretty packaged up with some ribbon.
Having a holiday dinner party? Use these tags as name place cards ( You can even try drawing a winter scene or some snowflakes on it)

(I apologize for the lack of post yesterday — things have been really busy with me lately!)
Jenny Bland‘s handmade spun ornaments are everything but bland:
And hello cute reindeer; you guys are fun from Moon’s Creations:
And you can wrap these little reindeer up with fun holiday masking tape from Present & Correct:
And then tag it with this pigeon gift tag (we can rename to be a dove to be more festive)

Is it possible to love Anthropologie even more? Yes.
I did a little shopping there over the weekend and when the cashier asked if my purchases were gifts, I said yes. She then dug around under the counter and along with boxes and tissue paper came out with these goodies to give me!

I almost squealed with delight. A beautiful little bag to hold jewelry, 4 packages of felt garland to wrap the boxes, and 2 little monsters with open mouths to put a gift card or jewelry inside!
Also, while I was in the store, I saw this GIGANTIC, monster of a size… Monster Book! And it was all stitched! Words and all! A work of art:

You have to look at it up close or in person because it’s truly amazing.

Good presentation is important to me so when I have an opportunity to wrap a gift, I love being as creative ( and eco-friendly ) as I can. Although I am drawn to beautiful paper like a moth to a flame, I have a hard time justifying the waste and price when it’ll be thrown out in about five minutes. This allows me to be creative though!
I mostly use the paper from grocery bags and go at it but I really like these other ideas:
For the crafty sewer — Turn the gift into the wrapping paper! Or, if you have extra fabric, share it to make a unique presentation and gift. ( via Inhabitat )
Making a gift bow out of old magazines or even old maps! ( Tutorial here from How About Orange )
My Aunt gave me the idea of displaying gift ornaments as part of the presentation like this one:
The possibilities are endless on this one — You can use origami, nature elements (sticks, holly, shells…), craft birds…

Creating a cloth bag to put your gifts in is easy and fun. No one will want to throw it away!
